Phil and his wife Desiré have two children. He is passionate about good coffee and
Phil is a registered Specialist Physician. He completed his residency in Small Animal
Medicine in 2007 at the veterinary faculty at Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria.
He then lectured to both pre- and postgraduate students in cardiology (diseases of
the heart) and nephrology / urology(diseases of the kidneys and bladder) from 2008-2010.
His research interests and dissertation investigated the link between plasma insulin
concentrations and low blood glucose in dogs with biliary fever. He has published
in top veterinary journals and gives lectures and talks around the country. He is
currently the Chairman of the KZN branch of the South African Veterinary Association.
Phil has been in private specialist practice in KZN since 2011, and regards joining
Westville Veterinary Hospital as a natural progression in combining the modern veterinary
hospital facilities at Westville with his specialist capabilities.
